Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace gaurd and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. (Philippians 1:12, NIV)
When bad things happen to us and things don’t go our way what do we do? Do we sit and sulk? Do we complain? Do we become depressed? Or do we take our less than ideal circumstances and give them back to God for His glory? In this scripture Paul sets the perfect example of how to be. He could have been visibly depressed while in prison but instead he made it crystal clear to all that he was a prisoner for Christ Jesus which served as encouragement for others. Give your worries, troubles, and misfortunes back to God for His glory.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6, NIV)
Isn’t it exciting that God has started a work in all of us. He has given us gifts, talents, and most importantly- His Spirit. But that is not all. God is constantly working on us and working in us. Isn’t it great to think that we are a work in progress and that we aren’t expected to be perfect. So the next time that you fail or come up short- hold your head up high and proudly proclaim “God isn’t finished with me yet!”

God spoke through the Prophet Jeremiah a message that He would have all hear. It goes like this:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, ” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.” (Jeremiah 29:11-14, NIV)
